Accelerated-X Summit Feature Highlight
Rotate (Pivot) Display

Rotate Display(s)

Recently Xi Graphics has offered graphics driver packages with the ability to support standard display devices that have been mounted with the display rotated - usually 90 deg - to the "portrait mode" orientation. Note that Portait mode monitors and "normal" mode monitors are different electrically, and the "true" Portrait Mode monitors are usually quite a bit more expensive.

Rotate Feature & Hardware Acceleration

The typical X.org or XFree86 based graphics driver does not use hardware acceleration - making use of the hardware capabilities of the graphics chip - to perform the rotation. The result is usually very poor performance, and heavy CPU usage.

Summit Rotation is Hardware-accelerated

For high performance and reduced CPU usage, Summit Series graphics driver packages that have the rotation (pivot) feature employ hardware acceleration. Some graphics chips are better at supporting this features than others, but the Summit SW takes full advantage of what is available.

Rotate Feature as an Option

Rotate is available is some Summit Series packages as a standard feature, and can be added to as an optional feature to other packages. Contact us with your requirements.
